The Man Who Knew Infinity ∞

Image
You would have easily inferred from the title that this article is about Srinivasa Iyengar Ramanujan or more commonly S. Ramanujan, who is a remarkable example of mathematical brilliance. He was born in Erode, Tamil Nadu on 22 December, 1887. India celebrates his birthday as National Mathematics Day . While most of us may be tormented by the mere idea of Trigonometry, Ramanujan was thorough with trigonometry at the age of 12. So, if I try to fit Ramanujan in today’s India, he would be a typical non-medical science student, attending coaching classes to crack JEE to make it to the dream education brand of India. Nevertheless, this piece is about Ramanujan and not about the poignancy of the education system. About how this man, who against all odds, went on to become the first Indian to be elected a fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge . When he was 16, he came across a book – ‘A Synopsis of Elementary Results in Pure and Applied Mathematics’, which aroused his curiosity in...

The Eternal Sky

Image
Looked while thanksgiving Glanced at while in trouble An interminable space to The little kid’s imagination And room to the Grown up’s insecurities Gandered by The eyes of aspirants, The atrocities of tyrants The stories of dreamers, The trust of believers The hues of rainbows, And the indited prose The wrath of black clouds,        And the veiled shrouds The shatters in history, The unsolved mystery Place to unheard words, And to flying birds To unseen scars, And to clustered stars Witnessing all lost fights, And the wavering kites To all the colossal ruins, And to smiling moons A considerate ally The eternal sky Being gone through all Exemplary and small Yet remains unflappable there Every day and forever.

The Darkest Plight

Image
I was frightened, I was terrified, I felt frozen Until I reached the darkest destination. It was nerve-racking, My heart skipped beats And my brain couldn’t think Until I made the darkest trepidation It was blurry, My eyes were bleeding And I couldn’t see Until I faced the darkest situation It was choking, My lungs couldn’t soak in air And I couldn’t breath Until I witnessed the darkest fear I lied down, I tried to sleep To get some peace And I couldn’t find any tranquillity Until I experienced the darkest anxiety I got up, I tried to stand But my legs hurt Like they have been cut Until I sensed the darkest distress But since the storm has passed And there's been given another chance I know things drift apart in pieces, Only to fall in place. Circumstances seem stiff, Only to end in grace And nights seem tenebrous, Only until shiny days.

Thankyou!

You can’t fathom the idea That I never envisioned, And I never expected That I’ll catch the sight of stars In fact, I believed, That stars no more subsisted In the sky of my dreams But not only did they They were more incandescent Than the stars of any other sky. I never expected That I’ll believe In your belief In fact, I believed That belief is a fallacy In the heuristic lands Where we live But not only had it become a reality, But was stronger Than any other belief. I never expected Things to fall So much in place In fact, I believed That the world is no more wonderful But you not only made it wonderful, You made it perfect. I never expected That I would dive Right into the oceans of my head And write about you, But you know You are worthy, You deserve even better And this is for Everybody out there Who sprinkles the colours of rainbow, Spreads the aroma of flowers, Glitters the sph...

A Man Called Sherlock

Image
Is Sherlock Holmes Intelligent? Undoubtedly, not the right word for this man. He has got more than just intelligence. What does this man do? Well, I would say he is a detective. But then he would correct me and say – “A consulting detective, the only one in the world, and I found this job”. If you have watched this man, then you know this smart as a whip man. If you haven't, then you missed something prominent. If you run into him, don't be surprised to know that he knows you more than your neighbour. What you did yesterday, how old your clothes are, if you had a break up a couple of days before or even your next plan. He just knows it all. Don’t say it’s trick, there’s no magic here, it is something called the ‘Science of Deduction’. He will make this out by observing how you hold yourself. Do you want him to be a friend? You can't flatter this man to impress him. He calls it 'boring'. Sentiment for him is a chemical defect found on t...

Something more!

Image
I sat to write something Something that would tranquilize the readers Something that would satiate the inner me With joy which knows no boundary   A notion all at once dawned on me Writing is such a bliss and glory I can delve inside myself And bring out all I have ever wanted to I stop and fantasize about writing I stop and think highly Of every piece of writing I have stumbled upon And deem the collective endeavor by everybody Put into oeuvre and creativity Hundreds and thousands of years Some fictional and some bona-fide tears Would have been crafted To make this basket This basket may not itself realize its preeminence What it gives When it becomes a confidante For a lone wolf When it takes a crestfallen Into its jovial realm When it opens a whole new world For somebody who abhors the existing The basket may not itself discern its virtue There are many who consider it Something more than...
